Presentation by guest composer Joel Love on his new saxophone concerto Solace (to be premiered at 8pm by faculty soloist Connie Frigo and the Hodgson Wind Ensemble, directed by Cynthia Johnston Turner)

Hodgson Wind Ensemble concert, directed by Cynthia Johnston Turner, featuring guest conductor H. Robert Reynolds, the world premiere of Joel Love’s new saxophone concerto Solace performed by faculty soloist Connie Frigo, and the premiere of a new work by Xi Wang.

Panel discussion on the commissioning process featuring conductors H. Robert Reynolds, Cynthia Johnston Turner, and composers Xi Wang and Joey Love.  Moderated by UGA composition faculty Dr. Peter van Zandt Lane.

Edge Hall, HHSOM

International Guest Artist Saxophone Masterclass featuring Dutch virtuoso Arno Bornkamp.  Performances by members of the UGA saxophone studio.

 

Sunday, March 4

3pm

Edge Hall, HHSOM

International guest artist recital featuring Arno Bornkamp (Holland), saxophone; Casey Dierlam, piano.  Program includes works by Florent Schmitt, Guillermo Lago, John Williams, Jun Nagao and Astor Piazzolla.
