Season Sponsorship and Concert Underwriting

What is Season Sponsorship?

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music (HHSOM) is a hub for musical performances throughout the academic year at the University of Georgia. In an average academic year, our season includes at least 24 ticketed performances, as well as roughly 40 free large ensemble performances.

Unlike professional companies, our ticket sales are committed entirely to student scholarships. They do not feed back into our operating budget. Therefore, each concert is produced primarily from the Hugh Hodgson School of Music General Fund. From this fund, we cover the various facilities costs, instrument maintenance, and marketing needs for our season. This fund is supported through donation.

We have created this new giving opportunity to support the School of Music at a sponsorship level. This allows you to contribute to this general fund and support all of our performances. There are two levels to sponsor our main concerts and events.

Please note: There are no season sponsorship or underwriting opportunities available for the 2023-24 season. Additional details for our 2024-25 season will be available after April 26, 2024. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to Melissa Roberts with interest and inquiries about season sponsorship and concert underwriting at roberts@uga.edu or 706-254-2111. In the meantime, you are also welcome to donate directly to the Hugh Hodgson School of Music General Fund. Your support is always welcome.

Opera Production Underwriter

Additionally, the needs of our UGA Opera Theatre production are unique. To begin with, these productions are primarily funded from a separate fund; the Opera Studies Support Fund. Secondly, these performances often carry with them additional production costs such as costumes, lighting design, set design, and the elevated HD livestream with supertitles. Due to post-pandemic changes, there has been a significant increase in these costs. Supply chains have raised the price of building materials such as lumber and fabric. The number of skilled technicians in Athens has decreased, leading to a need to hire these temporary positions from futher away. We have created an opportunity for you to underwrite a specific portion of production, and that is our Opera Production Underwriter.

Please note: There are no Opera Production Underwriting opportunities available for the 2023-24 season. Additional details for our 2024-25 season will be available after April 26, 2024.
