Doctoral Recital

This recital will consist of contemporary chamber music composed by Stephanie Wilson and performed by UGA students, alumni and faculty.  Pieces to be performed include Fantasy for alto saxophone and piano, After Dark for clarinet and electronics, Distant Lightning for bassoon, Stirrings for violin, viola and contrabass, and Lamentations 5 for baritone solo and brass quintet.

UGA Symphony Orchestra Concert

Guest artist Andrea Hanson joins the Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Strauss' Four Last Songs.  Also on the program are Barber's Adagio for Strings and Beethoven's Symphony #6.

Andrea Hanson is an assistant professor of voice at Carnegie Mellon University School of Music.  She has performed widely both in the United States and in Europe.

Opera Ensemble Concert

The UGA Opera Ensemble will present scenes and arias from various operas. Included on the program are the sextet from Manon by Massenet, quartet from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Benjamin Britten, trio from Abduction from the Seraglio by Mozart for two tenors and Baritone, and scenes from The Merry Wives of Windsor by Nicolai, plus various arias.

Guest Artists: Maggie Snyder, viola, & J. Patrick Rafferty, violin

Maggie Snyder, viola, and J. Patrick Rafferty, violin, will perform works by Bruni, Martinu, and Mozart.

Ms. Snyder is on the faculty of the University of Alabama school of Music.  She currently serves as Principal of the viola section for the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra and the Meridian Symphony Orchestra.

J. Patrick Rafferty is Professor of Violin at the University of Alabama.  He is also on the summer artist faculty of the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina, where he is concertmaster of the Brevard Music Center Orchestra.
