UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music violin and viola students can take Suzuki Method Violin Teacher Training Courses, taught by Edward Kreitman. Mr. Kreitman is known throughout the world as a guest clinician at Suzuki Institutes and Workshops and is a registered Teacher Trainer of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Mr. Kreitman is the author of Teaching from the Balance Point - A Guide for Suzuki Parents, Teachers, and Students, and Teaching with an Open Heart - A Guide for Developing Conscious Musicianship. He is the director of the Atlanta Suzuki Institute, which is hosted by the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

The Certificate in Suzuki Violin Pedagogy is open to undergraduate violin and viola music majors who have completed one year of MUSI 1820 (Freshman Applied Instruction), and is open to all graduate violin and viola students.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

• Demonstrate knowledge of the repertoire and teaching points in the Suzuki Violin Method, Books 1-8. 
• Develop and demonstrate strategies for working with students and families at all ages and skill levels in home practice, weekly private lessons, and group classes.
• If a student completes HHSOM courses MUSI 4600/6600, MUSI 4610/6610, MUSI 4620/6620, and MUSI 4630/6630, in order, they earn the UGA HHSOM Certificate in Suzuki Pedagogy. The student's training will be registered through the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the International Suzuki Association.

Undergraduate students should register for the 4000-level courses unless they are an Honors student as part of the Morehead Honors College or if the student is accepted into one of our Double Dawgs pathways.
