As part of its ongoing mission as a musical ambassador to Athens, the Hugh Hodgson School of Music proudly houses the University of Georgia Community Music School (CMS), an organization of faculty, students, and professional alumni that offers instruction to all members of the surrounding community.
In addition to applied lessons in piano, voice, strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion, CMS also provides instruction in music theory, music therapy, and ensemble performance. Hugh Hodgson School of Music faculty members provide master classes, observe instruction, and assist CMS faculty, as well as oversee the day-to-day operations of the program.
The program welcomes all types of students, regardless of age or ability level. A member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, the UGA Community Music School shares with other guild schools the mission of providing quality instruction in the arts to all who seek it.
Students have the option of in person or online lessons.
