As Antonín Dvořák’s most melodious and accessible symphony, Symphony No. 8 is an event for the novice concert goer to the seasoned audience member. Composed in 1889 at Vysoká u Příbramě, Bohemia, on the occasion of his election to the Bohemian Academy of Science, Literature and Arts, Dvořák conducted the first performance in Prague on February 2, 1890. The evening also features UGA music faculty James Kim, cello, performing Cello Concerto in A minor by Robert Schumann.
