Jazz Guest Artist Series

2021 speakers

This semester Dave D'Angelo will be doing a Friday "Zoom Guest Artist Series" featuring professionals speaking on many aspects of the music industry.

These sessions will be during Jazz Ensemble I Friday rehearsal time, 12:40 - 1:30.

Guests will include a New York based recording engineer, Broadway conductor, an L.A. based composer for commercials, TV, and film, a member of the L.A. Philharmonic orchestra, along with other higher education jazz educators.

This will be a great opportunity for our students to hear directly from these behind-the-scenes pros who have a wealth of knowledge to share, and are doing it simply to serve.

Friday, April 2: Caroline Aiken

Caroline Aiken, an Athens resident, is a vocalist, blues guitarist, recording artist, producer, and promoter. Caroline has 9 recordings as a leader to her credit and also serves as a music business advocate for aspiring musicians. Feel free to visit her website for more information on her career.


Friday, April 2: Jeff Coffin

Jeff Coffin is a saxophonist, multi-woodwind performer, 3 Time Grammy Winner and Educator who is currently saxophonist with the Dave Matthews band. He is a former member of Bela Fleck and The Fleck Tones. Jeff will be discussing a variety of topics with the students including practice routines and preparing for careers in the music industry.


Friday, April 2: Paul Wickliffe

Paul is a Grammy Nominated New York based recording engineer with over 1000 CD recordings to his credit. Paul will be speaking to the students on a variety of aspects of the recording industry.

Phil Palombi is a New York based Grammy Award winning Bassist/Recording Artist/Educator/Composer. Phil will be sharing his experiences and insights into the profession with our students.


Friday, March 19: David Andrews Rogers

David Andrews Rogers, (fondly goes by "DAR"), is a conductor/arranger/vocal coach, who has spent many years in musical theater in New York as well as national and international tours. After being a resident of NYC for 27 years, he recently moved to Palm Springs while on break from an International tour of Phantom. This Friday he will share his experiences and insights as a conductor.


Friday, March 5: Glenn Wilson

Glenn Wilson, currently on music faculty of Illinois Wesleyan University, is a Baritone Saxophonist/Recording Artist, and Lecturer on Music Business. Glenn will be speaking to the students on a number of music performing and business topics.

L.A. based Bill Bodine is a multi-instrumentalist on trumpet and bass. Bill is an Arranger/Producer and Grammy Award 

Winning Composer of musical scores for over 300 commercials and television programs. Bill's performing and recording 

career includes Manhattan Transfer, Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66 and many others.
