Congratulations to the University of Georgia saxophone studio! Undergraduate performance majors Gabe Pique and Brandon Quarles, as well as first-year DMA student and Shawna Pennock, recently competed in the International Saxophone Symposium and Competition at Columbus State University. Out of 70 contestants, Pique was one of six chosen to advance.

Pique also won first prize in the Young Artist Woodwind category of the Georgia MTNA competition on November 4th, with fellow Hodgson student Brandon Quarles taking alternate.

MILK, UGA's graduate saxophone quartet, was also awarded first prize in the competition's chamber music division. The group's members are Gabe Pique, Michael Turner, Brandon Quarles and Shawna Pennock. All are students of Hugh Hodgson School of Music professor Connie Frigo.
