Student composers at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music will present a slate of new music at the Student Composers Association (SCA) fall concert in the Roger & Phyllis Dancz Center for New Music on the second floor of the School of Music on Monday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.

These concerts, organized by the SCA once per semester, provide a venue for graduate and undergraduate composition students from the School of Music to bring their work to the stage.  There are no constraints on what can be performed, and compositions might be weeks, months or years in the making.

“In this sense, audience members will get to hear a broad sampling of our department's varying compositional styles, not to mention that they’ll be treated to performances of these new works by School of Music performance majors,” said Cody Brookshire, SCA president and School of Music doctoral student.

Monday’s concert will feature a wide variety of compositions, including solo pieces, duets and electronic pieces in fixed media.

The Student Composers Association at UGA is home to more than twenty composers, including graduate and undergraduate students.  Writing for a diverse array of media, the composers at UGA create work ranging from symphonic to electronic music.

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music sponsors more than 350 performances each year. To view the performance calendar, subscribe to the weekly email concert listing or learn more about the School of Music, go to music.uga.edu.
