A Hugh Hodgson School of Music fall tradition continues with this year’s Concert On The Lawn, held on the North Campus Lawn and set for Friday, Oct. 20, at 12:30 p.m.

The concert—featuring the Hodgson School’s premier wind band, the Hodgson Wind Ensemble, with special guests the UGA Jazz Ensemble—leans into its proximity to Halloween with a theme of “Witches and Wizards.” Pieces from “The Wizard of Oz,” “The Wiz,” “Wicked” and the “Harry Potter” series join Sousa marches and Karl King’s “Invictus” on the program.

Audience interaction and participation have been hallmarks of the Concert On The Lawn tradition, so attendees can expect to enjoy and be part of the performance.

Both ensembles performing for the concert will have their next feature performances in November: The UGA Jazz Ensembles play Ramsey Concert Hall on Monday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m., and the Hodgson Wind Ensemble performs in Hodgson Concert Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m.

Admission to the Concert On The Lawn is free.

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia sponsors more than 350 performances each year. Go to music.uga.edu to view the school’s performance calendar, subscribe to the weekly email newsletter, and learn more about the School of Music.
