Join us in Hodgson Hall as the UGA Hodgson Singers, directed by Dr. Dan Bara, perform in the Ensemble Series at 7:30 on March 3rd. The sacred music of Bach anchor’s the first half of the program with one of his most festive cantata orchestrations (3 trumpets, winds, strings) as they will perform his Ascension Oratorio with faculty and student soloists, including JD Burnett, and Elizabeth Knight, and student instrumentalists.

The 2nd half of the program leans into stylistic diversity as it explores themes of love loss, human interconnectedness, and our relationship with the element of water. The music ranges from Renaissance polyphony to modern, dance-hall dub, drought politics, pop music, and modern minimalism. It will feature student soloists and small ensembles from within the Hodgson Singers membership.

"I think it’s a program that audiences will enjoy for its many styles of music, and the textual themes that are explored," said Dr. Bara, the John D. Boyd UGA Foundation Professor of Choral Music and the Director of Choral Activities.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $3 for students with a UGAID. Get your tickets HERE. Live streaming will be available at music.uga.edu/live-streaming.
