UGA Opera Theatre returns to the Fine Arts Theatre Building for this fully-staged performance! Confusion is in full bloom at a small-town mayor’s estate near Milan, where Violante and her servant are disguised as gardeners to hide from her ex-boyfriend, Belfiore.  Chaos reigns among several would-be couples in this somewhat surreal romp of requited and unrequited love.  Enjoy wonderful music and imagination from an 18-year-old Mozart in a precursor to Le Nozze di Figaro. Sung in Italian with English supertitles.

Journey through some of opera’s historic arias and moments sung by our graduate opera students, including four brand-new MM and DMA students, alongside three of our impeccable UGA voice faculty. Joined by the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra, this will be a powerful night of exquisite opera standards, along with some unexpected gems from well-known opera composers including:  Handel, Mozart, Donizetti, Verdi, Delibes, Massenet, Verdi, Wagner, Montsalvatge, Barber, and Golijov. The spring concert for the African American Choral ensemble gives many of our ensemble members an opportunity to express themselves in other ways than just singing. Some may conduct, some may create original arrangements of existing works or brand new pieces.
