Presents structure and function of the singing mechanism, current research in physical development, maturation, learning and skill acquisition and their application to vocal instruction in group and individual settings; research and class presentation utilizing electronic media; and service- learning vocal instruction experience with area community partners.

Course includes a service-learning project during the semester that either employs skills or knowledge learned in the course or teaches new skills or knowledge related to course objectives. Students will be engaged in the service-learning component for approximately 25-50% of overall instructional time.
