James Beckett

Lecturer

James Beckett is an active composer, arranger, and conductor who has written for orchestra, choir, and chamber ensembles. In 2015, he won first prize in the composition category for his work Asperges Me, Domine in the Busan Choral Festival & Competition in Busan, South Korea. Most recently, he composed Moses and the Exodus, a cantata for choir and orchestra, which premiered this past May. As a guest instructor at the University of Georgia, he has taught Music Theory for Non-Majors and Instrumentation and Arranging. He earned his Doctorate of Music Arts in Composition from the University of Georgia.
