Michael Hadary

Lecturer of Voice (Musical Theater)

Michael Hadary, MFA, is entering his sixth year on the voice faculty of University of Georgia’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Previously, he held teaching positions at Valdosta State University as well as Lebanon Valley College where he created a Musical Theatre Minor in 2017. Here at the University of Georgia, he has taught Private and Group Voice, Song Interpretation, directed cabarets and showcases, and assisted as a Vocal Coach on several of the Theatre Department’s main stage musicals. This past May, he inaugurated a Summer Musical Theatre field study program with Jazz colleague, David D’Angelo.

Outside of UGA, Michael has Vocal Directed and/or Directed several musical productions including Mary Poppins, Evita, The Wiz, The Spitfire Grill and several Cabarets and Showcases. He ran private voice studios in New York City, Chicago and Orlando while working with performers from Broadway/National Touring productions including: Les Miserables, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Finian's Rainbow, The King and I, Sister Act, Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Wicked, Miss Saigon, Chicago, The Producers, Jersey Boys, and Cats

A member of the Actor’s Equity Association, Michael has performed in New York City in the Off-Broadway production of Sky Boys, as well as productions of 110 in the Shade, The Golden Apple, Miss Saigon, several theatre festival productions, and has sung with Grammy Nominee, Chandrika Tandon and Broadway Star, Linda Eder. Regionally, Michael has played leading roles in Company, Oklahoma, Songs for a New World, 42nd Street, Mary Poppins, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof and Into the Woods among others. 

With a focus on musical theatre vocal pedagogy Michael earned a MFA in Theatre from Penn State studying with Mary Saunders-Barton, Norman Spivey, Raymond Sage and Andrew Belser. He also earned a MM in Vocal Performance from New York University’s Steinhardt School studying with Brian Gill, Bill Wesbrooks and Michael Ricciardone. At James Madison University Michael earned a BM while studying both Classical Voice and Musical Theatre with Sonya Baker and John Bell.
