The University of Georgia’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music continues its spring Thursday Scholarship Series of concerts with the UGA Chamber Music Gala. This concert features eight small ensembles and over forty musicians presenting a wide variety of “exciting and innovative contemporary pieces,” according to concert co-coordinator James Sewell. This concert includes works by Mel Broiles, Kenji Bunch, Valerie Coleman, Jacob Evarts, Emma O’Halloran, Anže Rozman, Caroline Shaw, and Fernando Sor.

The featured ensembles are the Trumpet Ensemble (Philip Smith and Brandon Craswell, faculty coaches), the Hodgson Graduate String Quartet (Maggie Snyder, faculty coach), the Guitar Ensemble (Daniel Bolshoy, faculty coach), the Southern Wind Quintet (Amy Pollard, faculty coach), UGA Flute Quartet (Angela Jones-Reus, faculty coach), the Viola Choir (Maggie Snyder, faculty coach), Volume 4 Saxophone Quartet (Brandon Quarles, faculty coach), and the Horn Choir (James Naigus, faculty coach).

The concert will be Thursday, February 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Hodgson Concert Hall at the UGA Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $3 with a valid student ID. Tickets can be purchased online below or by calling 706-542-4400.
