University of Mississippi faculty tenor, pianist to perform Schubert

Two music faculty members of the University of Mississippi, Dr. Jos Milton and Amanda Johnston, will perform for the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music in Ramsey Concert Hall on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. 

Milton, tenor and assistant professor of music, and Johnston, collaborative pianist and associate professor of music, will present a free, multimedia performance of Schubert’s “Winterreise.” 

Jos Milton enjoys an active career in music as a professional singer and an educator.  Recent credits include performances of Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” and Finzi's “Dies Natalis” with the Germantown Symphony Orchestra, and Carlisle Floyd's “Slow Dusk,” Puccini’s “La Bohème,” Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci,” and Poulenc’s “Dialogues of the Carmelites,” all with the Louisiana Opera.

Canadian collaborative pianist Amanda Johnston acts as Music Director/Vocal Coach for the Opera Theatre at the University of Mississippi; teaches courses in advanced diction and collaborative piano; and coaches students at the undergraduate and graduate level. She is also on faculty at Musiktheater Bavaria (Oberaudorf, Germany) and Druid City Opera Workshop (Tuscaloosa, AL).
