Ellyn H. Evans

Ellyn H. Evans, PhD, MT-BC, (NICU-MT) is an Assistant Professor of Music Therapy. She received her Ph.D. in Music Education with an emphasis in Music Therapy (2020) and M.M. in Music Therapy from Florida State University (2013).  She received her B.M. in Music Therapy from The University of Alabama (2011). She is a Fellow of the National Institute of Infant and Child Medical Music Therapy and is a collaborator in the Early Notes Network, a music therapy consortium for childhood neurodevelopment.

 

Matthew Shipes

Dr. Matthew Shipes is the Associate Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at The University of Georgia and tubist with the Georgia Brass Quintet. A dedicated advocate of tuba and euphonium performance and pedagogy, Matt has also worked with the International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA) as Membership Marketer and Social Media director, communicating with an international audience of enthusiasts, students and professionals.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Greetings from the Hugh Hodgson School of Music! I know this has been a very unusual summer, and I appreciate all of your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we all try to find the best path forward. As the University of Georgia prepares for reopening and the return to campus, we want to update you on our plans for fall operations in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

Bawcum named Director of Athletic Bands and Assistant Director of Bands

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brett Bawcum as Director of Athletic Bands and Assistant Director of Bands. Dr. Bawcum has been serving as Acting Director of Athletic Bands since August, 2019. The Director of Athletic Bands also serves as Director of the Redcoat Marching Band, widely respected as one of the finest collegiate marching bands in the world.

Viola 2020

Join us on Wednesday, March 4th at 5:30 in Ramsey Hall for Maggie Snyder's exciting faculty recital.



The upcoming March 4, 2020 faculty recital will feature 3 premieres of new music written for viola alone and for viola and piano, including the winning composition of the VIOLA2020 Call for Scores. VIOLA2020 is a year-long commissioning project celebrating the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
