Hugh Hodgson School of Music faculty with a guest artist from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform a free Chamber Music concert featuring works by Brahms and Dohnanyi. 

UGA faculty members Michael Heald (violin), Maggie Snyder (viola), David Starkweather (cello), and Alan Woo (piano) are joined by ASO First Violinist Kenn Wagner in Brahms' String Quartet No.1 and Dohnanyi's wonderful Piano Quintet No.1.

An evening filled with drama, emotion, warmth, lyricism, and more, this event will be held in the internationally acclaimed Performing Arts Center.

Amy Petrongelli

Lauded in the New York Times for her “admirable fluidity,” soprano Amy Petrongelli’s diverse performance career wholeheartedly embraces both traditional and contemporary repertoire. In 2020, Amy was honored with a Professional Achievement Award from the University of Michigan for her significant contributions to the field of music performance. 

Jared Holton

Jared Holton teaches Ethnomusicology and Musicology at UGA. He holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2022). As a multi-instrumentalist in North American, European, and southern/eastern Mediterranean traditions, he approaches teaching and research as a musician and as a global studies scholar.

Jennifer Denk Stull

Jennifer Denk Stull, MM, LPMT, MT-BC is an Assistant Professor of Music Therapy. She received her M.M. in Music Therapy (2020) and B.M. in Music Therapy (2010) from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. 

Her research and teaching interests include music therapy with older adults, and exploring music therapy as psychosocial support for long-term caregivers. Professor Stull has presented her work at local, regional, and national music therapy conferences. 

Sally Ann Nichols

Sally Ann Nichols, MM, LPMT, MT-BC is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Music Therapy. She received her M.M. in Music Therapy from Florida State University and B.M. in Music Therapy from Belmont University as part of the first graduating class in their program. She has advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy® (NMT-Fellow) and neonatal intensive care unit music therapy (NICU-MT) through the National Institute for Infant & Child Medical Music Therapy.

University of Georgia Saxophone Studio quartet wins national competition

Mixed Media with their Gold Medals

Students in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music Saxophone Studio have been busy, and their hard work and professionalism has gotten them national recognition. Mixed Media saxophone quartet was awarded the Gold Medal in the senior wind division of the 49th Annual Fischoff Competition, held at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN on May 20-22, 2022.  

  

Chamber Music Athens is back for second season

Hugh Hodgson School of Music names new Director of Bands

Nicholas Enrico Williams

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia announces the hire of Dr. Nicholas Enrico Williams as Professor of Conducting and Director of Bands. Dr. Williams was hired after an extensive national and international search, and he will be joining the HHSOM in the fall. He brings a wealth of experience, having served in significant roles at the University of Melbourne and the University of North Texas.
