Open House

Every academic, year, hundreds of patrons from Athens and the UGA community join us to experience our full season of exciting performances, from the African American Choral Ensemble to the Wind Symphony. But have you ever wondered what goes into creating these top-notch concerts and recitals? Now is your chance to get the full "behind the scenes" picture of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music student experience. 

On Friday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., you are invited to sit in on a wide variety of classes, rehearsals, and special presentations covering all corners of our programming. The open house is free and open to everyone. Registrations are encouraged but not required. 

Free parking is available in the PAC Parking Deck and ground parking lot E11.

Rehearsing ensembles include ARCO Chamber Orchestra, Hodgson Singers, Jazz Ensembles I & II, British Brass Band, Middle East Music Ensemble, and the Repertory Singers, along side several small student chamber ensembles. Demonstrations and courses in Music Therapy, Music Education, Music History and Analysis, Composition, as well as voice and instrumental instruction will be taking place throughout the day. 

Throughout the day, there are also several performances in Edge Recital Hall and Ramsey Concert Hall. Finally, at the end of the day, the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra, conducted by resident artist Michael Stern, present "Symphonie Fantastique" by Hector Berlioz. Tickets are $15 for adults and $3 for students. BUT...participants in the HHSOM Open House have a chance to earn free tickets for the evening. HHSOM "Bingo Cards" will be presented to everyone in attendance. Fill your card and present it at the awards table for a free ticket to the concert. Limit one per person.
