University Sinfonia

The newest orchestral ensemble at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music is the University Sinfonia, an full orchestra designed to engage all musically-inolved UGA students.

Approximately 45 players make up the Sinfonia, which specializes in appropriate orchestral literature drawn from all stylistic period, including works featuring Hodgson School soloists.  The ensemble also serves pit orchestra for a fully staged opera production once yearly, in collaboration with the school’s Opera Theater and the University of Georgia School of Drama.  

Conducted by Dr. Clinton Taylor, the Sinfonia is open to music majors by interview.  Non-music majors are selected by audition.  All are encouraged to apply.
