New York Philharmonic’s Philip Smith to join UGA trumpet faculty

Philip Smith, currently the principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, will soon be moving South to join the faculty of the University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Smith has been named the William F. and Pamela P. Prokasy Professor in the Arts within the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, pending Board of Regents approval.

HHSOM student makes Carnegie Hall debut

Congratulations to Hodgson School voice student Joseph Brent, who will be making his Carnegie Hall debut on November 6! Brent has been selected to perform in the Collegiate Chorale's upcoming performance of Mefistofele, where he will share the stage with a cast of singers from the Metropolitan Opera. Hodgson Center Stage

On July 31, WUGA debuted the pilot for its newest proposed series, Hodgson Center Stage.  Hosted by former Hugh Hodgson School of Music Director of Choral Activities Allen Crowell, the program takes an in-depth look at outstanding student musicians at the University of Georgia.
