Mia Athanas

Myriam Athanas Faulkner is the Assistant Director of Athletic Bands in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Dr. Athanas earned a Ph.D. and an M.M.Ed. from the University of Georgia, and graduated summa cum laude with a B.M. in Music Education from Kennesaw State University. Her research interests include pre-service teacher training, scale development, and broad applications of assessment and educational measurement in music education. She continues to present research at the international and national levels. 

 

Athens Hip Hop Harmonic Video Collaboration Premieres 2.2.22

The Athens Hip Hop Harmonic has an exciting video dropping across all of the HHSOM social media channels this Wednesday, 2.2.22! Local rapper Kxng Blanco teamed up with composition faculty Peter Van Zandt Lane to create the piece performed by the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble. Stay tuned for more collaborations and music!

Tickets are on sale now for our premiere Thursday Scholarship Series, Faculty Artist Series, Ensemble Series as well as our large-scale spring Opera. Ticket sales directly support student scholarships, so we encourage you to give the gift of music!

Alan Woo

Praised by the New York Times as a pianist with “assurance and vitality,” Alan Woo made his Lincoln Center debut at Alice Tully Hall performing with the Juilliard Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. He has since collaborated with conductors Daniel Hege, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and Tito Muñoz in solo appearances with the Houston and Fort Worth Symphonies, and the Music Academy of the West Festival Orchestra.

School of Music Annual Holiday Concerts back live and in person

Start the holiday season off right by coming to Hodgson Hall for the return of the live Hugh Hodgson School of Music Annual Holiday Concerts. Audiences will be able to enjoy holiday classics and more to get into the spirit of the season, with performances by multiple ensembles. The concerts are part of the Thursday Scholarship Series and will take place Dec. 2nd and 3rd at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldog Brass Society will play outside the PAC for a festive beginning to the evening before the concert.
