Mezzo Soprano Elizabeth Knight performs Faculty Artist Series Concert

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music is excited to continue its Faculty Artist Series with a concert featuring American mezzo soprano Elizabeth Johnson Knight on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Ramsey Hall.

Knight has performed as both a choral and solo artist. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2010 as alto soloist in Handel’s “Messiah” with Andrew Megill and the Masterwork Chorus.

Faculty Artist Series celebrates Women’s History Month

Maggie Snyder, Professor of Viola, and Liza Stepanova, Associate Professor of Piano, present a very special program in celebration of Women’s History Month on Mar. 15 at 7:30 in Ramsey Hall.

“This exciting and eclectic program spans three centuries of music written by women, works for viola solo and viola with piano as well as piano solo, piano with electronics and even a work for toy piano,” said Dr. Stepanova.

Hodgson Singers perform in Ensemble Series

Join us in Hodgson Hall as the UGA Hodgson Singers, directed by Dr. Dan Bara, perform in the Ensemble Series at 7:30 on March 3rd. The sacred music of Bach anchor’s the first half of the program with one of his most festive cantata orchestrations (3 trumpets, winds, strings) as they will perform his Ascension Oratorio with faculty and student soloists, including JD Burnett, and Elizabeth Knight, and student instrumentalists.

CCE performs in video collaboration

The University of Georgia Contemporary Chamber Ensemble (CCE) presents a free concert entitled “Stay On It” on Tuesday, February 22nd, at 7:30pm at Ramsey Hall in the UGA Performing Arts Center.  Performing the music of today, tomorrow, and the recent past, CCE is co-directed by Dr. Brandon Quarles and Dr. Connie Frigo, professors at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.
