Special Guest Artists Recital features Heinen, Rachmanov

The Hodgson School of Music presents a special Guest Artist Recital tonight at 8 p.m. in Ramsey Concert Hall featuring Julia Heinen, clarinet, and Dmitry Rachmanov, piano. Heinen is a Professor of Music at California State University, Northridge (near Los Angeles), who has performed hundreds of recitals throughout the United States and had the distinct pleasure of premiering several works written specifically for her.

Summer Conducting Institute

As part of an array of summer offerings in the Hodgson School of Music geared toward professional development, Choral director Daniel Bara will launch the UGA Summer Choral Conducting Institute.

The UGA Summer Choral Conducting Institute is an intensive, week-long series of seminars and master classes geared for music educators, graduate-student conductors, church musicians, and other aspiring conductors who wish to grow as artists, teachers, musicians, and leaders.

Super Bowl Score

Dancz hopes his score will continue to make an impact after the credits roll on the film. After the game, iTunes users can download "Declaration Anthem," and the proceeds will go to the Wounded Warriors Project.

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music wishes you a safe and happy holiday season.

UGA Collegium Musicum members are among the many Hodgson School of Music students who have been spreading holiday cheer, performing carols and holiday tunes at the Athens Regional Medical Center for patients, visitors, and staff, as well as in downtown Athens for local businesses and visitors by the Arch on Dec. 4 (photo below).  Collegium members also made a guest appearance and performed at First Baptist Church in Commerce on Dec. 5.

HHSOM faculty present, teach and perform in Kenya

Dr. Jean Kidula and Dr. Mitos Andaya were invited to present at the First National Choral Workshop of the Choral Music Society of Kenya at Moi University in Kenya from November 21-26.  In addition to presenting sessions, lectures and rehearsals, both presented performances in the culminating concert of this inaugural workshop of the nation's newest music directors' organization.
