The Hugh Hodgson School of Music is proud to announce the first guest recital of Fall 2012 will be James Ackley, trumpet.  The Hodgson School is always proud to host performances by the world's top musical talent, and this inaugural concert continues a longstanding tradition of bringing high-quality musical performances to our students, school, and community.

Picture this:  you're eating lunch at Tate, flipping through a copy of the Red & Black and passing the time until your next class.

You've resigned yourself to the fact that it's just another typically gray, balmier-than-it-should-be November afternoon in north Georgia.

Then, with a start, you suddenly notice the music.  Not piped-in muzak, but something startlingly clear and close.  Turning around, you see a student standing on one of the tables, shredding his violin on a blazingly technical Paganini caprice.

Choral students receive Bulldog Vision Award

The UGA Center for Student Organization awarded students Casey Bechtold and David Okun of the UGA Choral Association with the 2012 Bulldog Vision Award at the H. Gordon and Francis S. Davis Student Organization Achievement & Recognition (SOAR) Awards on April 11th. One Bulldog Vision Award is given each year to a student or group that has demonstrated outstanding leadership and vision, have helped their organization and community envision the future, identify paths to success, and implement their vision for the betterment of their organization and community.

Guest Artists: Duo Fujin

Since it was created by flutist Misty Theisen and saxophonist Marc Ballard, Duo Fujin has promoted both traditional and contemporary concert music in its performances across the United States. In addition to presenting pieces from the existing repertoire for flute and saxophone, the duo has also been instrumental in commissioning new works for this unique instrumentation.
