Guest Artist Lecture: Robert Mitchell, piano

Robert Mitchell will deliver a recital preview lecture on Frederic Rzewski's"Variations on 'The People United will Never be Defeated" in the Edge Recital Hall (Music Building, 3rd Floor), 11:15 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.  This lecture isfree and open to the public.  

Mitchell will give a free recital at 3:35 (2.29.08) in Ramsey Concert Hall. The program will feature Frederic Rzewski's "Variations on 'The People United will Never be Defeated'", atwentieth-century masterwork incorporating jazz, pop, folk, andclassical elements.  This recital is free and open to the public.

Athena Grand Opera: La Traviata

Concert: UGA Wind Ensemble/neXt Festival

Under the direction of John P. Lynch, the UGA Wind Ensemble presents the neXt Festival featuring Kristen Kuster's Lost Gulch Lookout (world premiere), Holst's Hammersmith, Jonathan Newman's My Hands are a City (world premiere), Copland's Appalachian Spring Suite, and John Mackey's Kingfishers Catch Fire. There will be a roundtable discussion on new directions in music at 7:15 featuring UGA Theory and Composition faculty and the composers (Kunster and Mackey).
