Congratulations are in order for several Hodgson School students who took away top prizes at the Music Teachers National Association southern division competition! The event, which welcomed winners from nine state competitions, was held in Louisville, KY on January 17-20.

Chamber ensembles and students of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music faculty scored big at the Georgia division Music Teachers National Association competitions on Wednesday, November 6. Congratulations to all of the winners!

New York Philharmonic’s Philip Smith to join UGA trumpet faculty

Philip Smith, currently the principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, will soon be moving South to join the faculty of the University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Smith has been named the William F. and Pamela P. Prokasy Professor in the Arts within the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, pending Board of Regents approval.

HHSOM student makes Carnegie Hall debut

Congratulations to Hodgson School voice student Joseph Brent, who will be making his Carnegie Hall debut on November 6! Brent has been selected to perform in the Collegiate Chorale's upcoming performance of Mefistofele, where he will share the stage with a cast of singers from the Metropolitan Opera.
