UGA Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band Perform Together

On Monday, February 18, the University of Georgia Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will present their first concert of the spring semester.  The program features an eclectic array of pieces.  In addition to wind band standards by Alfred Reed, Vincent Persichetti, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, the concert will feature Anatoly Sheludyakovas a guest soloist. This concert is free and open to the public.  Please join us Monday, February 18, at 7:30 p.m. in UGA’s Performing Arts Center’s Hodgson Concert Hall.

 

UGA Opera Theatre presents Donizetti's Beloved Opera Don Pasquale

The University of Georgia Opera Theatre, along with several esteemed guest artists, will be commanding the Fine Arts Theatre stage as they take on the beloved opera Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti. The opera is set to run February 22 and 23 at 7:30 and Sunday, February 24 at 3:00. Don Pasquale epitomizes Italian opera buffa, so audiences should come prepared to have a good laugh.

 

David Fung, Faculty Artist Series: Mozart Madness on Chinese New Year

World-renowned performer and University of Georgia piano faculty, David Fung, will take the Ramsey Hall stage on February 5 at 7:30 as part of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music’s Faculty Artist Series. Lauded by TheWashington Post for his “ravishing and simply gorgeous” performances, audiences will want to mark their calendars for this concert.

 

2019 UGA Piano Symposium

The 2019 Piano Symposium will be happening on Saturday, January 26th in Edge Recital Hall at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. This event is free and open to the public!

Special guest Dr. Catherine Kautsky will be teaching courses, as well as performing a recital on Friday, January 25th at 5:30 in Ramsey Hall. Dr. Kautsky, Chair of Keyboard at Lawrence University, is an award-winning pianist and teacher, and the author of Debussy’s Paris: Piano Portraits of the Belle Époque.

Composition Concert kicks off 2019 Faculty Artist Series

As a new year rings in, it is only fitting to have a concert highlighting new musical works. The Hugh Hodgson School of Music’s composition faculty, along with many guest artists, will continue the Faculty Artist Series on Tuesday, January 15. The start time is set for 7:30 pm in Ramsey Concert Hall.

 

Thursday Scholarship Series Holiday Concert, a Community Tradition

Get into the holiday spirit with an evening of music thatcelebrates the Holiday Season with a program of sacred and secular music. The University of Georgia’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music’s annual Holiday Concert will take place on Thursday, November 29th and Friday, November 30th at 7:30 each night on the Hodgson Hall stage. Audiences will be able to enjoy the talents of hundreds of singers and instrumentalists from the choral and large ensembles of the School of Music.
