UGA Symphony performs Carnival of the Animals

Join us on Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m. as the UGA Symphony Orchestra performs The Carnival of the Animals, a Suite by Camille Saint-Saëns, live from Hodgson Hall.



The Carnival of the Animals is a humorous musical suite of fourteen movements by the French romantic composer Camille Saint-Saëns. The work was written for private performance by an ad hoc ensemble of two pianos and other instruments.

Make plans to join us online for the UGA Symphony Orchestra’s first concert of 2021, on February 4 at 7:00.

The concert opens with "Vivid" by Shir-Ran Yinan. It's a vigorous work with lots of interesting colors and rhythms. It was composed for the German String Philharmonic and had its premier in 1986. Yinan was raised in Mannheim Germany and the studied in Israel. She presently lives in Leipzig where she continues as a performer and composer.

Faculty Artist Series: Daniel Bolshoy

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music will kick off the Spring 2021 semester with a Faculty Artist Series concert by guitar faculty Dr. Daniel Bolshoy. The program consists of all original music for guitar and has been pre-recorded by Dr. Bolshoy in a video which will premiere on the HHSOM YouTube channel on Wednesday, January 13th at 7 p.m.

 

Faculty Artist Series features Maggie Snyder’s VIOLA2020

Hugh Hodgson School of Music professor Maggie Snyder’s Faculty Artist Series concert will be presented with a twist. The recital will be premiered as a concert film featuring four pieces intermingled alongside interviews with the performers and composers. The video is set to premiere during Spotlight on the Arts on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.
