For the University of Georgia Redcoat Band, the health and safety of its members is at the forefront of every decision made in regards to rehearsals and game days, especially in the Georgia heat. Director Brett Bawcum discusses the safety protocols they have in place to ensure the musicians aren’t getting overheated:

The Three Davids will perform Trio in E-Flat Major, Op. 44 by Louise Farrenc and Trio in A Minor, Op. 114 by Johannes Brahms.

We are thrilled to invite you back into our concert halls for the 2021-2022 season, and it promises to be an exceptional year of music making. Despite the challenges of this last year, our students and faculty continued to create, inspire, and perform at a world-class level, and I could not be prouder of their perseverance and spirit. 

 

Daniel Ellis

Stage Director, Daniel Ellis, continues to garner wide attention for developing new work with renowned artists while bringing innovative and imaginative theater and opera to diverse audiences. Daniel made his European debut in 2016 directing the third revival of Barrie Kosky and Suzanne Andrade’s production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Komische Oper in Berlin and has subsequently directed the Cincinnati Opera (2017) and Opera Philadelphia’s Inaugural “O” Festival (2017) revivals of the production.

James Weidman

Decades long experience with a multitude of notable artists -- from his early days as accompanist to iconic vocalists Abbey Lincoln and Cassandra Wilson, on to his years as a member of M-Base Collective innovator Steve Coleman’s group and music director for the late great Kevin Mahogany, up to his current tenure with saxophonist Joe Lovano’s critically acclaimed nonet and Grammy nominated Us Five band -- has proven pianist/composer/arranger James Weidman to be one of the most versatile artists in music today and prepared him well for his steady emergence as an important bandleader in his ow
