One-hour weekly lessons in a major or secondary applied instrument, voice, or composition for two and three credit hour students; thirty minute lessons for one credit hour students. Credit hours vary according to degree program and reflect differing performance expectations and literature difficulty.

Applied music instruction (instrumental or vocal) offered at all levels through enrollment in the University of Georgia Community Music School.

Nontraditional Format:

Weekly vocal or instrumental one-on-one applied instruction with seminar.

Solo, chamber, or lecture recital in partial fulfillment of requirements for the doctoral degree.

Preparation and presentation of doctoral conducting recital.

Ear training involving diatonic and beginning chromatic materials.

A continuation of the material of Music Theory I through more complex diatonic part-writing and analysis through beginning chromatic harmony and analysis. Keyboard harmony work is included.

Research while enrolled for a doctoral degree under the direction of faculty members.

Advanced supervised experience in an applied setting. This course may not be used to satisfy a student's approved program of study.

Fundamentals of ear training involving aural perception of materials of Music Theory I. Laboratory in aural skills drill and keyboard harmony included.
